Little Dragons | Beginner Kids | Intermediate Kids | Advanced | Black Belt | Adult Morning | Adult Evening | Teen | Home School Tiny Tiger Program. The Tiny Tiger program was developed specifically for preschool age children ages 3 through 4. This program offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect, and discipline. In addition, the program is designed to improve children's motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions. All classes are taught using safe, fun, and exciting instruction methods available for this age group. Our Tiny Tiger program introduces children to martial arts training & character development through a special blend of martial arts drills, games, obstacle courses, and music. Children learn to interact with other kids in their own age group & skill level through a series of individual, partner and group activites in a "FUN-SAFE" environment. Little Dragons - Dragon belt ranks no belt to orange belt. This program is designed for students from the ages of 4 to 6. These great "dragons" have lots of fun while earning special rank belts just for their age and ability. Parents, please note these classes are not "after school play". Your child will learn very specific balance, coordination, and listening skills. We do not focus in any way on fighting. Kicking and punching, or any other contact, with other students is never allowed. At age 4 and 5, students are learning proper interaction with others. We focus on the effort of your child, and do not measure against others in the group. So your child advances at his or her ability, not some preset bar that may be too challenging, or too easy, for your child. Children are selected to participate, and must have a desire to be in the class. Children who decide they do not want to participate are encouraged to stick with it, but will be asked to sit with parents if they choose. (Remember Mom and Dad, these are 4 year old kids, let them act like it sometimes!) Beginner Kids Classes - Level of no belt to yellow belt. Upper belts needing refresher may attend.Designed with the novice in mind, these classes start with the student having no belt at all. All ranks, including white belt, are earned. Students are challenged with variety of activities, having much to do with coordination, balance, and strength. The student will have fun, while learning the basics of kicking, self defense, blocking, and punching, as required of the beginner martial artist. Introduction to forms is primary goal at this level. Much emphasis is stressed on discipline, listening, and focus. Contact fighting is generally not allowed at this level for younger students. Average age for these classes is 6 to 11. Intermediate Kids Classes - Level of Orange to Blue belt. Upper belts may attend for forms review, or fighting depending on skill level.Designed for the student with an experience level of approximately 9 months up to two years. At this level, an understanding of forms should have begun. We start emphasizing the discipline of contact fighting. Facial contact is not allowed in the ring, and an understanding of "ring presence" is taught. Basic kicks are always stressed, and the more advanced techniques, such as spinning kicks and punches, are introduced. This gives the student a much greater sense of fun while developing their style as a martial artist. Advanced Karate Classes - Level of Purple belt to Brown senior belt. Upper belts may attend for fighting depending on age and skill level. These students, having over two years of regular attendance in a martial arts program, are becoming serious for the goal of black belt. By this level, students have progressed to actually throwing advanced techniques (spinning jump kicks, as an example) with control in the sparring ring. We refine techniques, and forms are greatly emphasized for their content and beauty. Self defense techniques can now be taught at a more advanced level. At this point the student has proved themselves to be responsible martial artists and citizens. Students of any age may attend, but average age in this class is 8 to 11. Black Belt Classes - Red belt and higher, all ages.Advanced forms, advanced self defense, and high level sparring are evident at this level. These students have "mastered" the very basics of karate, and are now open to such training in areas including weapons and advanced self defense seminars. Characteristics of great importance at this level are leadership, the ability to teach, and the confidence in ones own abilities. Students of all ages attend this class. Adult open morning - All levels. Primarily female. Fitness and basics are stressed.Morning classes are primarily focused on females. We introduce a variety of practical self defense moves, as well as integrated Tae Kwon Do curriculum. Often called the "ladies class", men are still welcome to join. The environment is a little more casual than some other classes, and it's a lot of fun. All belt ranks are invited to attend, making for a stimulating learning environment, especially for beginners. Adult EveningEvening classes for adults are for students above the age of 15. The scope of the class has a structured traditional Tae Kwon Do curriculum. Controlled contact fighting occurs weekly, with partners generally paired up by experience, rank, and gender. This class is more structured than the morning adult class. It has been described as physically challenging, mentally enduring, and fun. Teen Classes - Primarily beginner to intermediate ranks, however, all ranks are welcome. Ages from 11 and up only. This is probably one of the more stimulating and enjoyable classes. We stress leadership and physical fitness. We also encourage integrity, honor, and discipline in a way that teens will enjoy. The variety of ranks helps build confidence in under belts as they can see the goals they need to achieve, and helps allow upper belts to begin instructing others. This teaches patience and understanding, and is accomplished under black belt supervision at all times. Home School ClassesThese daytime only classes are opportunities for home schooling families in the low country. As home schooling parents, Angel and Rick understand the importance of social interaction, physical education, and structured environments in a Christian based school. You get all the benefits of Tae Kwon Do, without having to rely on a gym or basement for your training. We will be here long term to meet your child's goals, even if that goal is black belt (which takes around three years to accomplish!). In addition, there is no eastern religion or philosophy in our curriculum. Meet and interact with other home school parents and friends, while your children learn from us! |
